DUTIES AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS

 

As the owner, my duties and responsibilities include managing, operating and promoting Dejahre Multimedia Productions, an audiovisual multimedia company that host Avid Media Composer, Pro-Tool, Logic Pro lab featuring top-of-the-line SD and HD equipment. DMP is an independent production company specializing in audio/video postproduction. My primary emphasis is to serve as creative director and production manager for a variety of media projects. In performing this function, I am constantly in discussion with creative staff, producers, technical crewmembers, and international clientele in an effort to create a final product that meet international broadcast standards. I have excellent knowledge of production organization

 

 

and theory and utilize these skills, evidenced by my high success rate in delivering products on time and within budget to customer satisfaction. As the manager, I have directed this company to significant production accomplishments, including an award-winning documentary. 

 

I am further responsible for coordinating and multi-tasking various international cross medium projects (music, video, television). I advise clients on budget requirements as it relates to specific international locations. This sometimes involves communicating to an international client in various languages. In many instances where English or Spanish are not the communicating languages, I have to communicate to clients and crew by use of one or more interpreters. In spite of the language and cultural differences, I have a 100 percent customer satisfaction rating. As part of my duties, I supervise a staff that is responsible for production scheduling of pre-production research, location scouting, production shooting, and post- production editing. In spite of the fact that countries have different work customs and ethics I am able to overcome these differences and resolve these differences satisfactorily. I am in constant discussion with the creative staff to ensure that cultural and creative international broadcast standards are accomplished. In addition, I independently establish daily production reviews to analyze project productivity and budget guidelines. I direct staff and crew to modify and revise production workflow to obtain a highly effective and productive workflow. I have a very high success rate of project and client satisfaction.

 

It is my responsibility to research and analyze industry technological trends, FCC and international broadcasting regulations relative to the acquisition, performance, integration and maintain inventory of required production supplies and equipment to insure production operability. I constantly research and evaluate new equipment to maintain up-to-date creative production techniques and purchase of new equipment and supplies. I schedule routine

Accomplishments include:

 

Established DMP as a successful international production company with clientele in Africa, Belize, Cuba, Mexico, Suriname, Venezuela, and the United States. The DMP team includes a multi-national staff and crew of up to 12 and has a 98% success rating in customer satisfaction.

 

The Cuban project “Freedom Under Repression”, a short form documentary received the “Merit Award” for short form projects from the Cuban Alliance Commission. This project was shot in Cuba with a local crew to demonstrate how Cuban’s remain hopeful and optimistic while still under political repression. I produced and directed this successful project.

 

I successfully produced fifteen CD musical projects in the international markets. Three projects have reached the 10,000 sales mark, which is very successful for an independent music CD. I was responsible for all aspects of production and coordinating the creative concept and production. In addition, I successfully coordinated all marketing strategies with various international and national distributors.

 

Gained film scores experience on various projects. The “Suriname Maritime” project was a very successful documentary used to inform the residents about the history of the countries developments and how the coastal waterways helped this development. I was commissioned to write this music and successfully coordinated with the producers and editing staff.

I am responsible for directing and producing live distance learning and information broadcasts, media tours and major events for assigned clients, including Key Personnel, such as the Secretary, Deputy Secretary and others. My duties involve meeting the clients to plan, coordinate, organize, and direct the creative aspects of distance learning broadcast. In addition I 

plan, coordinate, organize research, develop, produce, and direct a variety of broadcast events

for higher authority including live and pre-recorded training, information sharing, field productions, and media events using one-way video and two-way audio links.  I successfully utilize knowledge and principles of visual design, and technical characteristics of a myriad of visual display methods. Upon completion of broadcast, I coordinate meetings with clients to evaluate the productivity and broadcast goals of the programs. I have a 99% satisfactory rating from clients

 

As producer, I conduct a needs and research assessments to determine the client’s broadcast goals. As a result, I advise clients on the most effective and efficient method/medium to communicate idea information and cost. I explain technical production requirements to clients in nonprofessionals’ terms to develop story ideas. I develop subject matter in a visual form that conveys the intended message and is receptive by the audience. In addition I insure that the broadcast meets Section 508 compliance requirements.

 

 

 

 

Serving as Producer/Director, I direct the works of writers, editors, talent, narrators, set designers, audio and lighting technicians, and camera operators prior to and during productions. Crews include staff, freelance individuals, and groups representing widely divergent backgrounds, interests and points of view. I utilize my experience and knowledge of practical and theoretical stage design elements for set configurations that include lighting, props, monitors, and visual elements to the production set to achieve a conductive atmosphere for production objective.  I constantly monitor and select multi-camera shots, audio elements and direct participant and talent placement. I also plan and adjust work operations to meet changing or emergency program production requirements within available resources with no minimum sacrifice of quantity or quality of work.

 

I am further responsible for determining the post-production requirements of each project. Many projects require non–linear editing to achieve broadcast continuity. I utilize my skills as a certified Avid editor to I adjust and modify a taped performance to achieve a higher quality product for the client. This entails adding transition effects, audio sweetening, and /or new

As Producer/Director, productions are frequently requested which involve logistics of studio and off-site locations. It is my responsibility to research, and determines pathways, which will allow interoperability of the production. HUD Broadcasting has produced numerous media tour, which requires a feed from the studio into syndicated network news programming. I utilize my expertise as a graphic designer with Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, Microsoft Power Point, and Deko for opening introductions, lower thirds, title graphics and professional program enhancements. In addition, I am responsible for creative cohesive audio enhancements for the

broadcast and programs. I utilize my skills as an audio technician and musicians to create successfully audio and music for each program. 

           

I serve as producer/director for upper management and Key Official media tours, news releases, Video News Conferences, and meeting. I interview and confer with content and program specialist to obtain latest information. I analyze, develop and present this information in a way that not only meets broadcast standards but also represents Key Official to news services for re-broadcasting. This includes understanding governmental broadcast protocol, Key Official service protocol and governmental regulations, practices and standards.

My ability to effectively communicate to clients and deliver outstanding broadcast programs has been widely noted to by clients, supervisors and superiors. As a result of these effective communication skills my programs have consistently received the highest program rating in our broadcast branch.

 

 

As a result of my organizational skills, I have the highest number of broadcast programs per week in our branch. This has helped to increase productivity in our department while maintaining and/or exceeding broadcast standards. While other producer’s have an average of 1-2 broadcast per week, I have a higher rate of 3-4 effective broadcast. My percentage of satisfied clients is 100%.

 

I serve as post- production advisor to producers and staff in our department, as a result of my experience, knowledge and expertise in postproduction technology, I assist and supervise staff projects to insure professional broadcast standards. This involves other producers with little or no background in postproduction knowledge, skills or techniques. I confer and assist in securing project editing continuity, color correction, titling, effect coordination and audio enhancements.

 

Per request, I also serve as liaison between Key Officials and broadcast on high level Media Tours, Ceremonies, and other Special Program. I have consistently delivered high creative and production standards, evidenced by repeated client assignment request. I have developed and implemented many new successful creative ideas to enhance these programs.

 

I serve as point of contact for my supervisor and staff for information and advice about computer software, new technology, and web based information within our department. I advise my supervisor on operating procedures for web base conversion, web casting technology, and media streaming technology. 

 

I developed a strategy to deal effectively with Information Technology (IT) problems within our department resulting in the development of procedures for updating and maintaining the editing suite computers and other computers used in the TV studio. Faced with a very serious breach of data and media, I redirected media to back up drives. This required me to independently assess media storage and data and respond in a timely manner during a time when the

workload was extremely heavy. As a result, our computers are on a regular maintenance schedule and data/media is store more effectively and securely. In addition, all computers will have updated program software versions.

In this position, I serve as a Freelance / Contract Avid Editor for Discovery Channel International for a variety of program episodes. DCI is a postproduction facility that re-purposes programs for over 116 channels. for a variety of program episodes. My responsibilities include communicating

 

 

with the supervising producer to determine daily work assignment and completing said task in a

timely manner. I utilize excellent verbal and written communication skills for completing and communicating work order progress on a daily basis to the producers and scheduling staff via ScheduAll software. I am responsible for adhering to strict broadcasting guidelines and protocol and timetables are very important. In this position, I utilized experience and expert knowledge of advanced patch bay configurations, routers, and state of the art broadcast equipment to upload digital streaming media into an advanced Omneon and streaming data server. I apply knowledge of High Definition and Standard Definition formats when converting programs for data streaming.

 

I employ various multi-tasking skills when encoding program clips, vignettes, promos and other program elements into the Avid Media Composer editing system. My duties require utilizing

skills to add finesse audio and video transitions, add graphic packaging elements, build front and back plate credits, mark-up scripts for closed captioning, create slates and labels, and coordinate delivery with clients and network operations with strict guidelines. I also add the Closed Captioning signal to the Video On Demand and clips as required before delivering to our Digital Promotion partners.

 

I am further responsible to exhibit strong organizational skills and the ability to adapt to ever

changing needs and priorities. I handle multiple and simultaneous projects while remaining calm

under pressure to insure a high success rate in completing project ahead of schedule and below budget. I utilize my knowledge of Customflix transcoding in completing projects to specifications and broadcasting guidelines.

Accomplishments include:

 

I served as a member of the CustomFlix editing team, which incorporated new technology reseached and developed for Discovery Channel International. Our team’s responsibility was to implement transcoding DCI and affiliate networks programming on to digital streaming networks to be simultaneously download to mobile units. We were responsible for successfully completing over 5000 programs in 3 months with all program passing quality assurance guidelines. As a part of this team, I met broadcast transcoding specifications and deadlines for my shows.

 

As a result of my ability to communicate effectively the CustomFlix work protocol requirements to both supervisors and staff stimulated a level of cooperation among team members and new employees assigned to project. My duties included instructing/ supervising new members of the team proper workflow procedures.

 

I developed a CustomFlix guideline manual that supervisors used to help new members of the team understand editing procedures. As a result, productivity increased 13% with fewer programs failing quality assurance guidelines.

It was also my responsibility to design the broadcast studio and supervise construction to both the audio and TV studios.

 

I developed and implemented a curriculum based on the state of Maryland educational guidelines.  I performed administrative duties that included daily lesson plans, student attendance records and evaluations. It was also my responsibility to supervise students on a

 

 

daily basis and create an atmosphere for successful learning. I prepared meaningful and

relevant lessons that would both teach students the educational outcome goals and also motivate them to be creative and enjoy learning. Courses emphasized the ethical, theoretical, and practical applications of media productions. I advised and counseled student about college and career paths.

I created an intern partnership with Montgomery Access Channel where students were certified as public access technicians in the categories of cameraperson, director, audio technician, stage manager, editor, lighting and technical director. Student’s responsibilities included volunteering for crew duty for at least one production per week at the station.

 

As a result of effective teaching and program organization skills, the enrollment in the program for the second semester grew 75% and the second year student enrollment doubled in all classes. As a result, an additional teacher was hired to help with enrollment.

I serve as Director of Production for TBN‘s Spanish broadcasting affiliate in Venezuela. I had the responsibility for managing all facets of operation to include but not limited to planning, budgeting, production, and marketing. I provided effective supervision, direction, guidance and leadership and exercised responsibility for effective day-to-day operations.

 

I supervised the design and constructing phase of a new studio facility. My recommendations for the purchase of digital and analog professional broadcast quality video production equipment,

 

 

graphic software applications, camera, audio mixing consoles and editing work stations, were implemented to provide enhanced capabilities in the transmission and programming of satellite broadcasting.

I supervised the research and analysis of industry technological trends, FCC and international broadcasting regulations relative to the acquisition, performance, integration of broadcast production equipment, cameras, transmission capabilities and satellite receive sites located in twenty-three countries. I provided headquarters in Costa Rica research and impact analysis of state-of-the-art digital transmission technologies, infrastructure conversion requirements, and  cost benefit analysis.

 

I produced a variety of programs for local and international airing (over 13 Spanish-speaking countries), including children’s programs, documentaries, music videos, entertainment videos, and sports programs. When producing programs for various countries, challenges with local and regional Spanish dialect differences presented problems. My experience supported by my analytical skills provided me with the tools to effectively resolve this problem.

 

Programs produced in the field involved extensive travel to various Latin American countries. I supervised and planned field and studio productions. My duties also included oversight on all project administration, budget forecasting and tracking, and equipment maintenance/inventory functions.

 

I effectively supervised staff pre-production planning, field and studio filming, and post-production program activities. I planned production schedules and implementation for all activities and productions. My personal contact included clients, staff and contract employees at all levels and backgrounds. I communicated orally and in writing effectively on a daily basis in Spanish, adhered to, and respected the various cultural differences, customs, and professional work protocols. I supervised a staff and crews between eight to twenty-three members in accordance with project demands.

Supported media production needs of TBN Enlace by determining individual country requirements for new and existing programs.

I successfully developed and implemented a strategy to deal effectively with standard operating procedures to insure consistent professional broadcast quality of all products. I implemented

 

performance requirements to staff, provided regular feedback and evaluated work of employees. Because of these operating procedures, our affiliate station witnessed a 50% increase in program quality and quantity.

 

I supervised the development and implementation of a strategy to ensured broadcast team employees receive appropriate training, equipment and guidance. As a result, we witnessed an immediate 80% reduction in production errors and equipment failure.

 

I developed a strategy to deal effectively with long standing employee grievances resulting in the creation of a forum for both management and staff to work together. As a result, employee skills were properly accessed and a process was created that supported and improved skills and abilities supporting career development and promotional opportunities. Employee retention increased dramatically.

I developed the Standard Operating Procedure by which Enlace Venezuela Television would operate, defining services, procedures and staffing requirements. I developed the policy and procedures, equipment specifications, and Position Descriptions of personnel recruited to staff and studio. I also authored the technical specifications for the operation and personnel requirements to manage the system.

I created and produced two award winning program series for Enlace Broadcasting. Adrenalina Extrema and El Campo received the “Best New Series” and “Best Production” award at the annual Enlace Broadcasting Conference.

I constantly produced and transmitted successful Spanish and bi-lingual programming and post-production products to reach Enlace’s diverse client population

 

I developed a strategy to increase Enlace Venezuela affiliate ranking from #20 to # 5 in the first year. Our programming was successfully marketed to over twenty-three channel and viewed by more than two million Spanish-speaking viewers.

 

I provided headquarters in Costa Rica research and impact analysis of state-of-the-art digital transmission technologies, infrastructure conversion requirements, and cost benefit analysis. My recommendations were accepted and as a result Enlace Venezuela was the first satellite station to upgrade to digital successfully.

It was also my responsibility to supervise students on a daily basis and create an atmosphere for successful learning. I prepared meaningful and relevant lessons that would both teach students the educational outcome goals and motivate them to be creative and enjoy learning. Courses emphasized the ethical, theoretical, and practical applications of media productions. I advised and counseled student about college and career paths.

 

Provided a variety of hands-on training, including:

Ø      Television studio and field production, especially camera, lighting, and sound recording

Ø      Non-linear and linear editing

Ø      Digital audio software/programs, midi equipment, and studio recording equipment procedures, practices, tools, and tips

 

Accomplishments include:

 

I developed and supervised WHHV Radio, Virginia’s first 24-hour internet/satellite radio station. I developed a strategy to have student produce a variety of programs and run an all student operated station. As a result, student and parents effectively received school information, weather, and community concerns. This was a very successful project and was widely accepted by the community.

 

Through the upgrade-constructing phase of the studio facility, my recommendations for the purchase of digital and analog professional broadcast quality video production equipment, graphic software applications, camera, audio mixing consoles and editing work stations were

implemented to provide enhanced capabilities for media training for the students.

 

I developed and supervised WHTV, the school’s cable/satellite television channel. I supervised students programming of daily news/information, and entertainment programs. Broadcast was delivered to the school and community.

 

I created a partnership with Bush Gardens who employed students as technicians in the categories of cameraperson, director, audio technician, stage manager, editor, lighting and technical director.

 

Because of my effective teaching and program organization skills, the enrollment in the program for the second year grew 125%. As a result, additional staff was employed to help with class course offerings and enrollment

DUTIES AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS

 

I served as the Director of Bands for Heritage High School. The school is a pubic Technology Magnet School for advanced students located in Newport News, Va. I taught individual and

group instrumental performance technique classes, including woodwind, brass, and percussion.

My responsibilities included teaching instrumental technique, music theory, and music nonmenclature. My duties involved creating and monitoring the budget, and fundraising.

Accomplishments include:

 

Five time recipient of “Who’s Who Among Top American Teachers” award. An annual award presented to the top 5% of teachers in the United States based on administrative, parent and student nominations. 

 

I was responsible for directing an award winning eighty member Symphonic Band. The Heritage Symphonic Wind Ensemble performed at Grade 6 (college/professional) level music. The

ensemble repeatedly received superior ratings at all festivals and competitions. The group annually performed at the White House during holiday season and ceremonies. They repeated performed in concert with the Langley Air Force Band.

 

My duties also included directing an award wining One hundred twenty-five member Marching Band. I composed musical arrangements for the band and designed half-time field routines. I supervised a staff of professionals who assisted with the flag, auxiliary, and percussion lines. The “Marching Hurricanes” performed at festivals, football games, and parades. This group constantly received awards in parades and superior ratings in all festivals and contest.

 

I was responsible for directing an award winning Jazz Band. The ensemble repeatedly received superior ratings at all festivals and competitions.
